about julie

Julie grew up right outside of Boston. Around the age of six she discovered her parent’s Polaroid camera and soon after was hooked on photography.

Julie graduated in 2003 from the University of New Hampshire with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication. She then moved to South Florida to pursue a career in photojournalism.

After writing and shooting for two local newspapers in Deerfield Beach and Hollywood for a year, Julie returned home to the Boston area to work at Harvard University, where she has been working for the past seven years in Public Affairs & Communications. Within her role Julie incorporates event photography and photojournalism, covering a range of subjects from local high school students working in Harvard labs to families enjoying community days at the University's museums.

Julie hasn't limited herself to any one area of photography. She shot seasonal youth sports portraits for New England Sports Photo, worked with an international juice company to stylize and shoot their products and a local jeweler on their product portraits, and was featured in the nationally subscribed Remodeling Magazine for her portraits of an award-winning local contractor. Most often she shoots weddings, engagements sessions, families, kids, dogs, babies, pregnant bellies, and whatever her nieces and nephews happen to be up to!

Julie has completed photography courses and workshops at the New England School of Photography and the Harvard Extension School. Her goal when shooting is to capture her subjects with a new and unique perspective. Whether she is shooting an interesting landscape, a newborn baby or a newsworthy scene begging to be documented, her objective is to do so with honesty and respect.
