Just east of Palm Springs, California lies 800,000 acres of desert, enormous rock piles, fan palm oases and wildlife that make up Joshua Tree National Park. According to legend, Mormon pioneers considered the limbs of the Joshua tree to resemble the upstretched arms of Joshua leading them to the promised land.
